Joe Jackson, MAI, CCIM, MRICS, brings 30+ years of experience to Metrolina Capital in finance and valuations including private lending, structured equity, analytics, development and consulting.
Joe completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Joe has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1984 and has been a certified general commercial Real Estate Appraiser since 1990.
Joe earned the MAI designation, which is held by professionals who can provide a wide range of services relating to all types of real property, such as providing opinions of value, evaluations, reviews, and consulting regarding investment decisions. The MAI designation has long been recognized by courts of law, government agencies, financial institutions, and investors as a mark of excellence in the field of real estate valuation and analysis.
Joe holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, a globally recognized designation with members across North America and in more than 30 countries. CCIMs have completed a designation curriculum that covers essential skill sets including ethics, negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, and investment analysis for commercial investment real estate. To hold this designation, one must have completed a significant portfolio requirement demonstrating the depth of their experience and successfully completed a comprehensive examination.
In addition, Joe also holds an MRICS designation. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a professional body promoting and enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure.
Joe’s understanding of business has always been second nature, even from his childhood as an extra hand around the family-run cash grocery. He continues his business-minded perspective, maintaining a fast-paced, meticulous work ethic. He actively volunteers in his community, both personally and professionally, serving on numerous corporate, financial and non-profit boards.
Joe serves on the following boards: 1) he has been on the board of Carolinas Business Capital, a regional Small Business Administration Certified Development Corporation, for over 20 years and has served as board chair for the last 4 years; 2) he serves on the boards of Community First Bancorporation and Community First Bank in upstate South Carolina; 3) he serves on the board of SeaTrust Mortgage and is currently board chair; 4) he served on the board of UNC Charlotte Athletic Foundation; 5) he serves on the board of Camino Community Center which is a non-profit serving the Latino community; 6) he serves on the finance committee of First Baptist Church in Blowing Rock, NC; 7) he has served previously as an investment manager for a private REIT; 8) He serves on the board of BK Technologies (NYSE American: BKTI).
Harry M. Tsumas brings 25+ years of experience to Metrolina Capital in industrial and commercial real estate. Also involved in private lending and structured equity, his experience is accompanied by a proven track record of success. Working with distressed assets, securing capital for investment properties, and sourcing income opportunities for his partners, Harry has been involved in numerous activities surrounding real estate, equity and operations.
For three generations, he and his family worked to build successful industrial installations in Iredell and surrounding counties. As a young man, Harry joined the family business in Ready Mix Concrete, Block Manufacturing and sand operations. With over 20 years of experience in that industry, Harry was instrumental in growing his family business into one of the largest privately owned concrete operations across North and South Carolina, before it was sold. His family business began with one concrete plant, and through several mergers and acquisitions, it grew to 19 concrete plants, 3 block plants and 1 sand operation.
In 1996, Harry founded Tsumas Real Estate and Development and employed nearly 20 agents focused on retail real estate. He dedicated his development time on one of the largest sectors; the commercial property market. He has completed many projects in the Charlotte MSA. Commercial Development projects include: Lake Norman Industrial Park, South East Industrial Park, East Iredell Industrial Park, Morlake Self Storage, Morlake Executive Suites, and Morrison Executive Suites.
Harry is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. A very active member of the community, Harry has served as Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Statesville where he served also Chaired the Buildings and Grounds team and the Finance team. In addition, Harry’s leadership has been a valuable asset to the Iredell County Planning Board, where he has served as Chairman; the Executive Board for Greater Statesville Economic Development Commission; and the Iredell County 2030 Planning Committee.
